Another lovely fall morning and today we began by walking on what amounts to Embassy Row, a quiet and lovely street that faces Kensington Palace and its gardens.  Upscale, to say the least!

After wandering around the streets of Kensington, we arrived at Harrods and worked up an appetite while wandering through the justly famed Food Halls.  Italian white truffles for $4,000 a pound,anyone?

We had a look at the trendy Sloane Square shops and at the tony Belgravia            neighborhood, as well as a quick look at Westminster Cathedral, seat of the Roman Catholic Church in the UK before taking the Tube for a lunch date with our cousin Brian Lenney, whom we haven’t seen in two and a half years.  We had a lovely time and a peak at some of Mayfair’s hidden delights, most notably Mount Street Gardens, before Brian had to head back to the salt mines of private banking.  We’re encouraging him (at least by example) to think about early retirement!

We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Mayfair, the narrow and varied streets of SOHO, and the shoppers’ heaven of Regent Street, which we followed all the way back to The Mall.  Then, with a shortcut through the home of the Household Cavalry to Whitehall, we ended the day at Westminster Abbey. There, we attended the Choral Evensong, a lovely way to end this lovely day, or any day.
